PennDOT in the last week has outlined multiple projects slated to get underway or resume in District 10, including several in Indiana County as construction season arrives.

Work began last week on the $7 million Mentch Bridge project on Route 422 over the Route 553 ramp in Cherryhill Township.  Two bridges on the divided highway will be replaced over the next two construction seasons, the eastbound bridge this year and the westbound structure next year.  Lane restrictions and weight limits will be implemented as needed.  That project should be completed in the spring of 2024.

The $5.7 million Cunningham Culverts two-bridge replacement project on Route 422 in Armstrong Township will begin again in April and should wrap up by May.  The work zone extends from Trim Tree Road to Lions Health Camp Road.  The project began two years ago.  One bridge is being replaced with a box culvert and the other with a concrete pipe.

PennDOT also said last week that the Oakland Avenue expansion project will get rolling again with work concentrated around the Walmart/Aldis area, where you can expect lane changes to be put into effect.  The $19.3 million widening and resurfacing project includes widening Route 286 and the 422 interchange, replacement of a bridge over McCarthy Run Creek, and the installation of sidewalks along Oakland Avenue, along with drainage and guiderail improvements.
